How do we play it?
the game is divided into 2 portions, character interaction, and the card game, with some interaction between the 2
After making a character you get to build your starting deck
[Jumble of notes, keywords, and jargon from this point on until thoughts are ironed out]
there 5 card rarity's; Common, uncommon, rare, Legendary, and mythic. each deck is made of 30 cards, you may have 1 mythic and 5 legendary cards per deck.
Card types include; Monster (with sub-types for specific kinds of monsters such as goblin, dragon, vampire, etc) , Spell, Trap, Item, Ritual, and Enchantment.
Cards do not have a cost to play but you can only play 1 monster per turn and 1 of any spell, traps, enchantments ,etc unless stated otherwise by the effect of a card. some enchantments allow you to play multiple monsters or spells of a specific type. you may discard a card with the bolstering element of a card you wish to play in order to bypass the play limit once.
monster cards have an attack value and defense value, monsters can attack once per turn, if the opponent has no monsters on the field, they take damage equal to the attack power, if the opponent has a monster both monsters fight using their attack power, whichever monster has the higher attack power destroys the other and deals damage based on the difference in attack power (example, one monster has 1200 Attack and fights the opponents monster of 1000 attack, the opponent takes 200 damage to their life points)
monsters can switch between attack and defense mode once per turn, in attack mode, they may attack once per turn as described above. a monster in defensive mode cannot attack but uses its defense points to counter the opponents attack instead of its attack points. if the defending monster is destroyed by an attacking monster its owner will not take damage even if its defense is lower than the opponents attack. the defending monster can still counter when it gets attacked and deal damage that way, but this cannot result in the destruction of a creature.
Creatures may have an element associated with them or no element at all (Called neutral element). elements can have a advantage or weakness when fighting other elements or no change if they're neutral element.
Some spells have a cost that require a creature of the same Element to be active or sacrificed.
