Zerg Stratagy
The Zerg are a glass cannon swarm faction, like all factions they demand high amounts of resources but for different reasons. many of their units can Morph into a more powerful unit or unit that fills a different role to keep up with the changing field of battle.
A standard game of competitive starcraft 2 starts both players on different ends of the map on High Ground with their faction HQ and 8 workers (formerly 12)
General tips: More money; more good. flying units are good scouts. always be spending.
Early game stratagy: GET MORE DRONES, many of zerg's early game units require only minerals or minerals and a small amount of gas. once you get a few drones (between 10 or 12) use a drone to build a spawning pool so you can start making zerglings and a Queen. while the Spawning pool is building, keep making drones for minerals and overlords for supply then build into a roach warren in order to build roaches.
Zergling strategy: Zerglings cost 50 minerals and 1 supply for 2 Lings. for context, one marine costs 50 minerals and 1 zealot costs 100 minerals. marines and zealots have the same speed, zerglings are slightly faster and have access to a speed upgrade before the other units do. in the late game they have access to an upgrade that increases attack speed. since zerglings are small and fast they can surround smaller units and prevent them from running away. when fighting in an army, they get shot at fist so your more valuable units take less damage. if you have a baneling nest, the zergling can evolve into a baneling, banelings explode and die, dealing extra damage to armored targets.
Queens: the zerg queen is a spell caster unit with 3 abilities that focus on supporting your swarm. she also has a low damage anti-air attack
- Spawn Creep tumor. the creep tumor is a 1 by 1 building that is burrowed. it covers an area in creep over time allowing you to build on top of it, give extra speed to your units, and improve their natural regen a little bit, also provides vision allowing you to see enemies before they hit your base.
- Inject larvae. this ability can be used on hatcheries and its upgraded versions. after using this ability a timer will apear above the hatchery, when the timer ends, 3 Larvae are immediately added to the hatchery pool. Larvae are used to create more units. this ability can be stacked multiple times on one hatchery.
- Transfusion. a healing ability that can only be used on creep. can target biological units only (can target allied units who aren't zerg as well)
